Defender 1983 to 2006

The original Defender was launched in 1983 as the Land Rover Ninety/One Ten — tough, no-nonsense 4x4s that evolved from the old Series models. They introduced coil-spring suspension, full-time four-wheel drive, and a more practical cabin, marking a major step forward for Land Rover. In 1990, the name Defender officially appeared, just as the Discovery joined the range.
